J-Team Kid's Club:

The Christian Reformed Church of Dandenong runs a kids club for community and Church children who are in grades prep to 4. The purpose of the club is to bring children to an understanding of who Jesus is and they do this with stories, songs and drama. The club - which runs for 6 consecutive weeks each term, on Wednesdays from 4pm till 6:30 pm - is called the J-Team, meaning the Jesus-team.

The program timetable is as follows:

4 pm Children arrive, games are organised by one or two leaders, rest of leaders have a devotion time
4.20 pm Drink of cordial for the kids
4.25 - 4.40 pm Singing. They particularly enjoy action songs!
4.40 - 5.20 pm
Craft time. The kids make something to take home every week
5.20 - 5.50 pm
Teatime. Leaders and kids enjoy a simple meal together
5.50 - 6.20 pm
Bible story and related activity
6.20 - 6.30 pm
Closing song and prayer

We have between 15 and 25 children coming each week, most of them from the community. There are 9 leaders who work together to organize the various parts of the program. We also have people come in to do the cooking each week. We keep the meals simple and "kid-friendly" eg. pasta, sausages in bread, noodles, hamburgers and pizza.

The Bible time program varies. We use videos, story books, acting and various teaching kits, but always concentrating on telling Bible stories in some form.

Our interesting and age appropriate crafts sections - which several leaders spend a lot of time preparing - always go down well with the kids.
